Etching is a process by which a detailed drawing is created on a metal plate, usually zinc, by corroding it's surface with nitric acid. Once the plate is completely etched with a design, the plate is inked and run through a hand press. Because each print is run individually, no two etchings are exactly alike with each being an original print
The etching process incudes dry point, open bite, softground, and aquatint techniques to achieve the desired effects. All my etchings are printed on Rives, 100% cotton acid-free paper using a Laszlo Universal Press.
All Mini prints are no larger than 3". Each are hand colored because they are so small. Artwork colors vary from photos. All minis are $50.00
All Medium prints range in size from 3 x 4 - 5 x 7 inches. These prints are considered "larger" than the mini's due to their content. The color prints go through the press 2 or 3 times using color ink. Most medium prints are $100.00
My larger ethchings are considered small by today's standards, the largest etchings are 80 and 96 square inches. There are monochromatic pieces and colored prints. All full size prints are 125.00 and up.
